  3. GeoClock for Windows 7.2 adds two major new features: a true
  4. Windows screensaver mode, and a wallpaper mode.  
  5.  
  6. 1.  Windows Screensaver.  The screensaver is initialized for the 
  7. first time from the FILES/Screen Saver Setup menu item.  After that, 
  8. it can be controlled from the main Windows Control Panel/Desktop 
  9. (win3.x and WinNT) or the MyComputer/Display (Win95).

  11. 2.  Windows Wallpaper.  The wallpaper mode is activated by checking 
  12. the "In Background" box in the Controls/Window Controls menu item, or 
  13. by including INBACK1 on the command line.  See the online help for
  14. more information.

  16. 3.  Summer time extrapolation algorithm.  This change improves the accuracy
  17. of the extrapolation of summer time dates.  A change was made in the DST 
  18. command syntax to support this change.  Of cource, since lawyers are involved
  19. in determining these dates...

  22. Version 7.1 (both DOS and Windows) add two major new features:
  23. the HAM package now recognizes the QRZ CD-ROM in addition to the 
  24. BuckMaster CD-ROM; the NETWORK command was added to allow multiple 
  25. configurations.  In addition, some bug fixes and enhansements were 
  26. made to the windows version.

  28. 1.  QRZ disk.  There are no syntax changes.  If you have the HAMCD
  29. command, the program will recognize the QRZ or BuckMaster disk,
  30. depending on which it finds first if you have both mounted.  If you
  31. specifiy the file name, you must specify the location of the
  32. CALLBKC.DAT file for the QRZ CD.
  33. *** Starting with the Octobert 1995 release, GeoClock no longer
  34.     works with the BuckMaster CD.  BuckMaster has deleted the
  35.     HAMCALL.129 file that GeoClock uses.  The replacement file is
  36.     encrypted, and BuckMaster will not release the file format and
  37.     encryption algorithm.  You can obtain the QRZ CD at retail or

  48. 2.  NetWork
  49. NETWORK  allows you to run GeoClock on a network, with each user able
  50.  to customize his use of the program.  The syntax is:
  51. NETWORK@serverpath@localpath
  52.   - or -
  53. NETWORK
  54.  In the second case, the path to the GeoClock EXE file is used as the
  55.  serverpath, while the current default directory is used as the local
  56.  path.
  57. Example:  NETWORK@C:\GEOCLOCK@F:\MYGEO@

  59. In general, when GeoClock requires a file, it first looks for the file
  60. in the localpath directory.  If the file is not found there, it looks
  61. in the serverpath directory.  When files are written (such as when the
  62. options statement is used), the changed file is written to the
  63. localpath directory.  This changed file will them be the one read the
  64. next time that file is required.

  66. Only MAP*.EGA files in the serverpath directory will be used.  All other
  67. files may be in either directory.

  69. 3.  The windows version has a number of enhansements and bug fixes:
  70. The apparent speed has been increased (apparent is all that matters
  71.   in windows, I guess!).  In particular, the delay from a mouse click
  72.   to the menu appearance is greatly reduced.
  73. A new feature was added to the SETUP menu, to allow grey scale and
  74.   color depth to be specified.  In addition, 16 color systems are
  75.   automatically detected, and the color palette is modified to
  76.   make display on this system better.
  77. A test-map feature was added to the file menu to facility detection
  78.   of bad maps.
  79. Bugs in DRAWFCIRCLE and script were fixed.
  80. The NOGLYPH command was added to solve an Out-Of-Resources on some
  81.   older systems running in 64K and 16M color mode.
  82. The MAKEZOOM program was modified to support the Windows version.
